Kumari’s Adventure with her Moon Cycle is a revolutionary storybook that I have been curating since March 2020, to address the lack of education and taboos about menstruation in Nepal.
It is a collaborative creative project. The illustrations have been drawn by more than 80 young people from across the globe, mostly from Nepal. It is an interactive and evolving project.

In the story, the main character, Kumari, and her best friend discover a magical bicycle called a Moon Cycle that takes them on a journey of discovery.
They explore the female anatomy, form a trusting community and discuss the myths and taboos about periods! Kumari is so inspired by what she learns that she knows that people in her village deserve to understand it too…

Education and understanding through creativity is key for this project, demonstrated by the diverse workshops we have been facilitating during the storybook creation process.
